How this website is built and tested so that everyone can use it, what we know still needs work, and how to tell us about a barrier.

Our commitment

Systems-OP wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, screen magnification or voice control.

The standard we follow

The website is designed and built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This is the level referred to by the European standard EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act.

What we have done

  • Text and controls meet the AA colour contrast ratios, in both the light and the dark version of the site.
  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a “Skip to content” link.
  • Pages use headings in order and labelled regions, so screen reader users can move around them.
  • Every image has a text description.
  • Every form field has a visible label, and errors explain what to correct.
  • Animations are switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • The layout works on screens from 320 pixels wide and when text is enlarged to 200%.

How we test

Before each release, every page is tested with automated accessibility checks (axe, against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 levels A and AA) at four screen widths in both colour themes, and the navigation and forms are tested with a keyboard.

Conformance status

We believe this website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA: the content we build meets the standard, with the known limitations below.

Known limitations

  • The cookie consent banner is provided by a third-party plugin. We have adjusted its fonts, colours and button sizes, but we cannot guarantee that every part of it meets the standard.
  • The website has not yet been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser.
